Camping med elg i solnedgang

Olberg Camping in Trøgstad may not be large, but it is precisely this that makes it highly valued far beyond Norway's borders. Situated along Route 22 through Båstad, the campsite offers spaces for motorhomes, caravans, and tents, along with five cabins for rent. From here, visitors have easy access to hiking destinations and attractions in the Østfold region, including the nearby Sandstangen bathing area. However, it’s the tranquillity that many guests appreciate most.

"Most of our visitors value the fact that this is a small campsite where it is peaceful and quiet, surrounded by vast agricultural landscapes. They can sit and gaze over the cornfields while enjoying the sunset. Many also hope to catch a glimpse of elk," says Heidi G. Haakaas of Olberg Camping. The site organises daily elk safaris by minibus from mid-June to mid-August, offering guests the chance to see these magnificent animals in stunning surroundings, Haakaas adds.

Fewer Visitors Last Year

According to NHO Reiseliv, camping is more popular than ever. Typically, Olberg Camping begins receiving motorhomes and caravans as early as Easter. The campsite remains open year-round, with its peak season usually falling in July and August under normal circumstances.

What are your expectations for this season?

"We hope to welcome as many guests as last year. It’s hard to predict how the summer will turn out," Haakaas explains. Guests from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany have returned to Olberg Camping year after year. "They drive through Sweden and stop with us on their way further north or west. Some even plan day trips to Oslo but stay overnight here," Haakaas says.
