Østfold offers exciting experiences in both cinema and theater. The area has several modern movie theaters, such as NF Kino in Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad Kino, where you can enjoy everything from the latest blockbusters to family-friendly films. Theater experiences can be found at places like Fredrikshald Teater in Halden, Norway’s oldest Baroque theater, and in Fredrikstad, where a variety of theater performances and concerts are staged throughout the year. In Indre Østfold, there is also a focus on historical productions, such as the annual Soot-spelet, which tells stories from the region’s rich cultural heritage and is staged at Ørje Locks on the Halden Canal.
