Østfold is brimming with superb golf courses. The climate ensures a long golfing season and excellent conditions. For Norwegian golf enthusiasts, the areas around Fredrikstad, Moss, Sarpsborg, Halden and Askim have become increasingly attractive in recent years.
Several courses are regularly ranked amongst the best in the country, whilst 9-hole courses and some ‘pay-and-play’ courses have made this popular sport more accessible to the general public. Get your clubs out! It’s time to ‘spoil a walk’, as they say. Golf is the perfect motivation to get out and about in almost any weather. If you’re a beginner, it’s actually great fun just to practise a bit on the driving range or have a go at putting on the practice green. Mini-golf and football golf
If the thought of weaving your way through experienced golfers on the ‘fairway’ – fearing you’ll have to shout ‘fore’ every other stroke – seems a bit daunting, there are fortunately other ways to experience golf too:
Mini-golf is fun for young and old alike, and basically involves ‘putting’ a golf ball along various obstacle courses. Highly recommended!
Football golf attempts to combine two of the world’s most popular sports by far. It works surprisingly well! As an accessible outdoor activity – something to do with a group of friends or the family – football golf can really be a ‘hit-in-one’ (or something like that)!
