Svinesund

Europe’s most beautiful border crossing!

Svinesund is a scenic strait that separates Norway and Sweden, connecting the Iddefjord with the Skagerrak. It marks the border between Halden Municipality in Norway and Strömstad Municipality in Sweden. The area is famous for its two impressive bridges: the old Svinesund Bridge, opened in 1946, and the new Svinesund Bridge, opened in 2005. Both bridges offer spectacular views of the fjord and the surrounding landscape.

Svinesund is one of the largest and most important border crossings between Norway and Sweden, serving as a vital link between the two countries.

The area is also popular with visitors who come to experience its beautiful nature and historic bridges.
