CHRISTMAS MARKET AT FREDRIKSTEN FORTRESS

Fredriksten Fortress transforms into an enchanting Christmas market on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, 2025. Bring the family and experience the magic of Christmas in historic surroundings. Holiday cheer and warmth fill every corner of the fortress.

Explore charming stalls overflowing with handmade Christmas gifts, wellness products, jewelry, delicious baked goods, and sweets. Enjoy a warm cup of mulled wine as you stroll along the cobblestone paths and let yourself be captivated by the festive atmosphere and the fortress’s rich history.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN HALDEN

In Halden city center, you’ll find many charming small shops offering a unique, local shopping experience, and Tista Shopping Center is conveniently located nearby with a wide range of stores along the riverside promenade.

SANTA PARADE IN HALDEN CITY CENTER

Every year, the Santas of Halden invite all elf children and regular children to a Santa parade in the city center. The event usually includes surprises for the kids, along with the drawing of wish lists and the distribution of pre-Christmas gifts to the winners. Enjoy Christmas choirs, brass bands, and accordion music, as well as traditional mulled wine and gingerbread cookies. All big and small Santas march together from the town square to Busterud Park. The date and more information about this year’s parade will be announced soon.

ENJOY THE COLD, BEAUTIFUL SEASON OUTDOORS IN HALDEN

The ice rink at Busterud Park opens as soon as the temperatures drop below freezing. For those who prefer skiing, freshly prepared ski trails will be available throughout the winter at Tistedalen Ski Resort. Alternatively, you can enjoy a peaceful walk in one of Halden’s beautiful hiking areas.
