Countless lakes and ponds offer excellent opportunities for ice fishing in Indre Østfold

Even if you have never fished before, ice fishing or jigging is something you can do on your own, without a guide. It is simple, inexpensive, does not require much equipment, and is often easily accessible.

Drill a hole in the ice, lower the line into the water, and wait patiently.

Sitting on the ice in the low winter sun with your ice fishing rod in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, waiting for the fish to bite. It doesn't get much better than that!

Ice fishing is a great winter activity for the whole family.

Combine your fishing trip with a bonfire, ice skating, snowshoeing, or a kick sled ride. And if you want a real wilderness experience, you can of course spend the night out on the ice.

There are several shelters along the Halden Canal, which can also be used free of charge. First come, first served.

If you are going ice fishing, it is important to check the ice.

Always ask locals before going out onto the ice. Listen to experienced tour guides and stay away from the ice if you are unsure whether it is safe.

Fishing license
