Things to do in Rakkestad

Rakkestadhallen is located in the city center, with its bike path, basketball court and beach volleyball court. The Frisbee Golf Park is also located here. It starts with a throw up at the water tower, across the road from the parking lot at Rakkestadhallen. The course is free to use and open to everyone. An incredibly fun activity.

Rural idyll

"Yes, both," some say. In Rakkestad you can have the urban experiences, but wilderness experiences are not far away either. In addition, you can easily combine a few quiet days in the countryside in Rakkestad, with the hectic, vibrant life in one of the surrounding cities, as the distances are short.

Lilleheier farm is located in the heart of Degernes in Rakkestad municipality. In the old barn building you will find an old-fashioned farm environment with a focus on nostalgia, tradition and woodwork.

In the coffee shop you can enjoy coffee, cake and waffles. Here you will be served with some exciting pastries in what was once a stable barn. Lilleheier has, among other things, its own variation of the traditional Stöpaforskakan from Värmland, which is made with the roasted oat flour skrädmjöl. This flour has a long tradition in the Nordic countries, and gives the cake a nutty taste. Together with the freshness of cranberries, it becomes a wonderful combination. This can be enjoyed inside the coffee shop, on our patio in the yard or in the nostalgic grandmother's garden, if the weather is nice. Here beautiful and historic roses and old perennials grow in beautiful harmony.

Here, the progression goes up quickly and the lap time goes down. If you want to feel the speed and power without driving yourself, you can also book a seat as a passenger.

Driving a go-kart at Rudskogen is also a very special experience! The go-kart track at Rudskogen is a unique track that you will not find anywhere else in Norway. The track is internationally approved, and is Norway's longest. The fact that you drive on an outdoor track makes the experience completely complete! Take a hike!

Peaks with observation towers are perfect destinations for short trips or everyday trips. Looking out over the treetops can make the big, wide world seem beautiful and untouched.

Did you know that Linnekleppen is Northern Europe's only manned fire watch tower? Linnekleppen is the highest point in Rakkestad municipality, and at 325 meters above sea level, it is the fourth highest point in Østfold county. The tower itself used to rise 17 meters above the ground, , and had a small dormitory for the fire watchman. Now it is torn down - and they will build a new one. From the tower you had a view of large forest areas in southeastern Norway, as well as parts of Sweden. The tower was established in 1908, and is staffed in June, July and August.

Linnekleppen is not only a forest fire watchtower but a favorite outing for people from both Norway and abroad, and not least an important cultural and historical monument. Approximately 2-3 thousand people visit Linnekleppen during the summer season.

A little funfact: Although many thousands visit Linnekleppen every year, the over 24 million who have so far seen the Ylvis brothers attempt the knot "Truckers Hitch" on Youtube are nothing.

Historiske avtrykk

Hjemmefrontmuseet i Rakkestad finner du over 4000 gjenstander fra 2. verdenskrig. Utstillingene er omfattende og berører okkupasjon, krigshandlinger, Milorg, agenter, Nasjonal Samling, den sivile siden, konsentrasjonsleirene og frigjøringen.
